Changes are coming! New Website.

My name is Kathy Kingman, I am the new webmaster for the 16th district PTA and in the coming months you will be seeing some changes in our online presence. Our website is getting a makeover and our social media accounts will be utilized together to bring you a more cohesive experience on the web.

Website changes

This year we are switching from web based website builder "Yola" to "WIX". The reason for this change is that the WIX platform is more user friendly that the Yola platform. It has built in features such as:

• Blog Capabilities- You are reading a blog post. Blog posts are different from newsletters in that a newsletter comes once a month and has snippets of information pertinent to everyone. Blog posts will usually focus on one topic and go into depth on the topic. You may also search for blog posts by topic or category.

• Embedded Newsletter: WIX has a built in newsletter app. By using WIX we will no longer need to use Constant Contact which is a costly addition to our communications budget.

• Site Membership capabilities- Log in and respond to Blog Posts, take part in discussions, and gain access to member only areas.

• Calendar- There is now a calendar page wherein you may add our events to your own google calendar.

• Plus much more.

Facebook/Instagram/Twitter/Blog

These social media platforms are very useful in getting the attention of your members. We will be sharing information from the CAPTA Facebook page as well as highlighting local PTA's in our district. Keep an eye on our blog to see how we are going to highlight your PTA!

We will be adding local board emails to the newsletter distribution list soon so that board members will automatically get the monthly newsletter. You are also welcome to join the newsletter list if you are not a board member! Simply press the green button at the top of the page and sign up with your name and PTA location.

If you would rather get notifications every time we publish a blog post- or you want to be able to take part in the Marin PTA community, you may register as a member at the top of the page in the upper right hand corner. You can use your Facebook identity to register or you may use an email.

You don't have to choose- you can do both!

Communication is key. Its the way we accomplish goals.
